Neat Freak Cleaning provides residential & commercial carpet and rug cleaning and also commercial upholstery cleaning in Brooks, Newell County, and S.E. Alberta.

Either spray extraction, VLM (very low moisture), or a combination of both methods is used depending upon the level of soiling and other factors.

THE TOUCH-UP

A light cleaning to freshen things up

Choose this if:

  • Your carpet is well-maintained (i.e. vacuumed regularly) with no odor or major stain issues; you might have a few stains, but not many.

  • You need a quick turn-around.  Since VLM cleaning is used, your carpet will be dry in as little as 30 minutes!

Do NOT choose this if any of the following apply.  Instead, choose The Deep Clean Package below:

  • There are children, pets, other types of high traffic, and/or smoking.
  • You can’t remember the last time you had your carpet professionally cleaned or it has been at least a few years.
  • You have shampooed your carpet or had it professionally cleaned before.  It has detergent residues that are actually attracting new soil!  You need The Deep Clean Package (see below) which has been designed to remove these, leaving nothing for new soiling to attract to.

More details:

  • Only noticeable, individual stains will be spot-treated, not areas of general staining.  For these, choose The Deep Clean Package below.
  • The cleaning will still reach the carpet backing – dredging up any and all soiling that no vacuum can – but only a basic cleaner will be used that is not designed to eliminate stains or odors.  Such treatments are not the purpose of this Package.  (There might be some incidental removal, but likely not complete.)  
  • The Stain Blocker Package can be applied at this time to qualifying carpets for an additional cost.  See details below.

THE DEEP CLEAN

A full treatment designed to also tackle ALL stains and odors

  • Your carpet ranges from ‘meh’ to outright ‘YUCK!!!’

‘Meh’ – Your carpet may not seem too bad (not many stains, no strong odors), but the cleaning history isn’t known and it isn’t regularly maintained.

‘YUCK!!!’ – There are children, pets, other types of high traffic, and/or smoking where stains and odors seem to be the norm.

  • You can’t remember the last time you had your carpet professionally cleaned or it has been at least a few years.
  • You have shampooed your carpet or had it professionally cleaned before.  It has detergent residues that are actually attracting new soil!  This Package has been designed to remove these, leaving nothing on the carpet fibers for new soiling to attract to.

More details:

  • Like the Touch-Up Package, the cleaning will reach the carpet backing – dredging up any and all soiling that no vacuum can.

    The difference?  This Package uses cleaners designed to eliminate ALL (non-permanent) stains and odors!  (There are some that no amount or method of cleaning can get rid of.)

  • The cleaners pack a lot of power, yet are CRI-certified safe for people and pets – perfect also for those with allergies and/or chemical sensitivities.

THE LOYALTY DISCOUNT

Earn a 15% discount for each annual touch-up cleaning!

Note that annual touch-up cleanings following an initial deep cleaning have been proven to dramatically extend carpet life and the time needed between more expensive deep cleanings.  In other words, a few hundred dollars spent per year saves many thousands more over several years.

TO QUALIFY:

  1. You must first get a deep clean done (see The Deep Clean Package above). There is no discount for this first cleaning.
  2. The first touch-up cleaning must be done (not just booked) by the end of (12) months after the initial deep cleaning. Example:  if the initial cleaning was done April 15, the annual touch-up cleaning must be done by April 30 of the next year.
    • You can, of course, book sooner than a full (12) months, after which the next touch-up cleaning must be within the (12) months of that one.

TO KEEP QUALIFYING:

  • Do a touch-up cleaning within every 12 months and get a 15% Loyalty Discount every time, as explained above.

TERMS:

  • No future discount applies if the touch-up cleaning is done beyond twelve (12) months.
  • No future discount applies if you skip a year or more between cleanings.
  • It may be determined after one or more touch-up cleanings – or even at the next scheduled cleaning – that your carpet is due for another deep cleaning, at which time you will get the Loyalty Discount if you still meet the conditions explained above.  You will not get this discount if you no longer qualify for it.
  • For commercial customers, the first touch-up cleaning must be done by the end of six (6) months after the initial deep cleaning and subsequent touch-up cleanings must all be within six (6) months of each other.  (Sound costly?  You’ll thank me in the long run because you’ll be pushing your FAR more expensive carpet replacement ahead by several years!)

Protect your carpet against stains from food dyes

Perfect for cafeterias and areas with frequent food and drink spills

  • An additive that’s also WoolSafe approved will help prevent carpet fibers from being stained by wine, coffee, red soft drinks, fruit juices, and more.

FAQ – Carpet & Rug Cleaning

I use VLM cleaning for carpets under warranty since my vacuums, VLM equipment, and cleaners all have the CRI SOA.

If your carpet is still under warranty, some carpet companies/manufacturers require the use of CRI SOA equipment and cleaners (The Carpet and Rug Institute Seal of Approval) or else you will void your warranty.  Please check your warranty or your carpet retailer for details.  Don’t make the mistake of voiding it by using a non-certified alternative!

Oh boy, where do I even start with this one?  From somebody who both rented and bought shampoo machines before I started in this business, the apparent savings only cost you more in the long run.

Mainly, those machines don’t have the suction power to properly draw out most of the soapy solution.  A sticky residue is left behind – which means most soiling didn’t actually get removed – that is like a magnet to future soiling (dirt, sand, spills, urine, vomit, pet odors, smoke particles, skin flakes, etc.).  Only spray extraction or a VLM machine with counter-rotating brushes (CRB) using proper chemistry is able to get that mostly out.  You’re only compounding the problem by doing another shampooing!

Also, most consumer-level shampoo for the machines has high pH which also attracts soiling – further compounding your original problem.  A carpet repeatedly cleaned with high pH cleaners creates the sticky residue mentioned above, hurting the carpet’s appearance and making it more difficult to clean.  You need the lower pH of professional-level products – and the right machine(s) and technique(s) – in order to undo the unseen damage of shampooing.

In short, carpet shampooing is a great marketing gimmick that makes you think your carpet got properly cleaned.  Maybe so for a short period, but not for long.  (I won’t even get into the eventual “wicking” of stains back to the surface and the return of odors!)

Lastly, regarding visible damage, the soil particles that get stuck in a carpet that has been shampooed – or any carpet that is not vacuumed at least once per week – rub against the carpet fibers as we walk on them, etc. and damage them at the microscopic level.  Since they now reflect light differently than surrounding, non-damaged fibers, a dull area called “traffic lane gray” eventually appears that represents permanent damage.  No amount of cleaning or nothing else can fix it aside from future replacement.  To prevent this, you need to vacuum even if you hate it (read my blog) and get a professional cleaning done at least once per year.  Carpet only lasts as long and treats you as well as you treat it.

So a professional carpet cleaning may cost more up front, but it will drastically extend the life of your very expensive carpet if done properly – in other words, saving you a LOT more than you spent on the cleaning in the long run.

"Traffic lane gray" on a carpet: the damage that can't be fixed, but the problem that CAN be prevented – with proper maintenance!

I do commercial upholstery cleaning – chairs, benches, stools, pews, etc. – in conferences rooms, hotels, offices, restaurants, halls, churches and other business and institutional settings.

I do not clean upholstery that is non-synthetic fiber, such as organic fiber (ex. cotton).  I hope to get formal training for all types of upholstery and fabric cleaning in the near future.

The carpet fibers need to be clean – and cleaned properly, not just vacuumed – in order for the stain blocker to adhere and work properly.  Also, the stain blocker that I use is specifically formulated to work with the cleaner that I use.
